Maximo Laura, Master Weaver, internationally recognized as one of South America's preeminent textile artists. He is also a consultant, designer, and lecturer on contemporary Andean textile art and design. In 2010 Laura was granted the title of "Living Human Treasure," by the government of Peru.
"Each of Maximo Laura's tapestries is impregnated with ancestral magic evocative of pre-Columbian cultures in terms of technique, iconography and color. Nonetheless, Laura's work -- a creative process based on research, the study of weaving techniques and their applications -- rests within the universe of contemporary textileria."
